TRIO GITAN CONCERT CANCELLED

We are sorry to announce that next Friday’s planned concert with Trio Gitan has been cancelled due to low advanced ticket sales. My sincere apologies to those who have already ordered tickets. Anyone who has purchased tickets from Reeth Post Office will be able to get a refund from there. Please support our forthcoming events – and book well in advance in order to avoid disappointment. But please note in your diaries that Trio Gitan will be performing along with international gypsy jazz violinist, Tim Kliphuis at Wytham Hall, Barnard Castle on Sunday 23rd November.

Saturday 11th OctoberTams & Coope - John Tams (voice and guitar) is described by Mojo as one of the ultimate British songwriters has had a career spanning four decades in every medium. A member of the Albion Band and Home Service he is perhaps best known for his work at the National Theatre and as Rifleman Daniel Hagman in the Sharpe television series. He is a five times winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Barry Coope (voice & keyboards) is part of the incomparable Coope, Boyes & Simpson. Tickets £13 (door £15).

BEST LIVE ACT

Friday 31st OctoberVin GarbuttThe Teesside Troubadour returns. Vin’s career has spanned over 40 years of constant world wide touring which must make him some kind of elder statesman of folk. An evening of memorable music and matchless banter. Vin is  former winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Live Act and a nominee for Best Folk Singer.  Support by Loose Connection with their new CD hot off the press! Tickets £11. (door £13)

 

REUNION IN REETH

Friday 14th NovemberKitsyke Will on their comeback tour! This 70s North Yorkshire, UK three-piece folk group - the Englishman, the Scotsman and the Irishman - comprise Tony Bayliss (vocals, guitar, cittern), Bob Thomas (vocals, bodhran, Northumbrian pipes) and Peadar Long (clarinet, whistles, flute, saxophone, vocals). Tickets £8 (door £10).

 

SCOOP OF THE YEAR - MADDY PRIOR & THE CARNIVAL BAND

Tuesday 2nd December – Maddy Prior & The Carnival Band St Andrew’s, Grinton.  Tonight in Grinton – tomorrow night on the main stage at The Sage, Gateshead! Further details to follow. Tickets £19.50 (door £21.50).

 

RETURN OF NORTH COUNTRY THEATRE

Saturday 6th December – 7.30pm - North Country Theatre present A Month in the Country adapted and directed for the stage by Nobby Dimon.  Two men, an artist and archaeologist, recently released from the horrors of the trenches, find themselves working side by side in a North Yorkshire village. What they slowly uncover is an ancient village mystery, hidden passions and the healing power of a month in the country.  This prize winning novel was made into a film with Colin Firth and Kenneth Branagh in the starring roles.  In response to many requests from supporters and venues we will be touring it again in Autumn 2014, to mark the centenary of the beginning of the First World War. Tickets £9 (under 16’s £5)
